Crew Cuts into Ruth's List Volunteers Offer Day for the Cause

Thursday's heat didn't seem to faze the 12 to 15 volunteers from the Southwestern Indiana Builders Association's Remodelers Council as the organization observed its annual "Community Work Day." The volunteers spent the day sprucing up Ruth's House, a faith-based transitional housing program and addiction recovery ministry for homeless women, at 321 Walnut St.

Chad Goelzhauser, representing Scheessele & Sons Construction LLC, was among the volunteers. With a sealer sprayer in hand and the sun beating down, he said, "It's good. I really like sealing the fences actually."

Other volunteers were spreading mulch and taking care of other maintenance tasks outdoors and indoors.

Their work didn't go unnoticed.

Ashley Fancher, Ruth's House house manager, and case manager Sara Goad described the volunteers' efforts as amazing and most appreciated.

"The girls who stay here help keep weeds pulled and the grass cut, but the work be- ing done today is by skilled workers, something we couldn't afford. …
