St. Louis-based Hermann Co. has purchased Amoco Foam Products Co.'s high performance packaging company in Sioux Falls, S.D. The company makes plastic and other wrapping material for the food industry.

Hermann makes plastic packaging systems.

No purchase price was announced.

***** CORN GROWERS Association Calls For More Farm Aid

The National Corn Growers Association has called for the U.S. Department of Agriculture to offer more help to the nation's farmers. The group asked the USDA to:

Extend the signup period for the "0/92" corn program through September.

Offer farmers a six-month extension on 1992 crop loans.

Allow farmers to file disaster assistance claims on the basis of farm tracts rather than entire farms.

The St. Louis-based group also called for rebuilding agricultural levees.

***** ILLINOIS CATERPILLAR New Unit Will Lease Generator Sets

Caterpillar Inc., based in Peoria, has formed Cat Rental Power, specializing in the rental of generator sets.

Caterpillar was already in the generator rental business, said Richard L. Thompson, vice president. The new group has been set up to handle growing demand. He estimated that the market for Cat Rental Power is $250 million annually.

The power units are used at rock concerts, political rallies, sporting events and to help deal with natural disasters, he said.

***** NATIONAL RETAILING Limited To Close, Revamp Stores

Limited Inc., whose stores are fixtures in shopping malls, plans to close, remodel or scale back 360 outlets that have been a drag on profits.

Limited, which has 4,481 stores nationwide, said it will close about 100 Lerner stores and remodel or downsize 260 Limited stores by the end of 1995.
