Witness Accuses Suspect of Holding Gun to Face

Two men from St. Louis will be tried in St. Charles County Court on charges of robbery and armed criminal action, an associate circuit judge has ruled.

Judge John T. Davis ruled last week after a preliminary hearing in which one of the witnesses testified that one of the accused, Barry C. Wallace, had put a revolver in her face and demanded her money and jewelry.

The woman, Paulette J. Aschoff, a waitress at the Holiday Inn in Wentzville, pushed her index finger deep into her left cheek to illustrate Wallace's actions and said Wallace had threatened, "Give me your money or I'll shoot you."

Police said the incidents had occurred on June 4 when Wallace, 26, and Antonio L. Battile, 25, are alleged to have hijacked a newspaper delivery van about 4 a.m. in St. Louis. Police say Wallace and Battile drove the van out to Wentzville, robbed Aschoff and two other women reporting to work at the Holiday Inn, stole one of their cars and headed back east on Interstate 70 while St. …
