100 Artists Will Show Works at Annual Salute to Masters

More than 10,000 works by 100 nationally acclaimed artists will be featured at the sixth annual Midwest Salute to the Masters at Longacre Park in Fairview Heights Saturday and Sunday.

Among the offerings will be paintings, sculpture, photos, ceramics, glass, jewelry and paper art.

Also included in the show will be:

A children-only gallery where children ages 12 and younger can study and buy original works by the show's artists for $5.

A children's art exhibit and activities.

A food court offering ethnic and homemade foods provided by nonprofit groups.

The show will award $17,500 in cash prizes, one of the largest such purses in the Midwest. Sponsors are Fairview Heights and the Southwestern Illinois Tourism and Convention Bureau.

Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Longacre Park is on Longacre Drive west off Illinois Route 159 one mile south of the Interstate 64 interchange at St. Clair Square.

The Salute to the Masters has become a tradition, and many area children have acquired their first appreciation for fine art at the show. …
