Dear Readers: When a dog or cat wanders away and can't be found, it can be pretty frightening!

My secretary's cat happened to crawl through their van window and without knowing, her husband drove off. Scratches was so frightened he jumped out the window about two blocks away and ran into the woods.

We called Dr. Vice, our wonderful veterinarian and he said to post signs all around the neighborhood, to tell as many neighbors as possible, as well as notify all area veterinarians.

Joyce went to the spot two or three times a day calling and whistling, but no luck. Three days later her daughter joined her in the search and as they walked near the same area, they both called and shook a bag of cat food. They heard a faint meow, and as they got more excited calling and whistling, Scratches' meow got louder and louder and he ran in their direction!

The darling cat had stayed in the same area for three days and nights waiting to be rescued. He was fine, except for a cut on his chin and an empty stomach! …
