BIG RIVER HUNTING CLUB, Fletcher. From I-270 go 21 miles west to Grubville, then 8 miles west on Route WW to club. About 30 miles southwest of St. Louis County. Phone: 944-3511. Annual family membership $400, corporate $1,100. Trap range, sporting clays course. Lodge, dining room. Quail cost $5, chukkars $8.50, pheasant $12.

POND FORT ESTATE, O'Fallon. Two miles west of U.S. 40-61 on St. Charles County Route N. About 25 miles west of I-270. Phone: (314) 327-5680. Annual membership fee. Family $350, corporate $1,000 includes hunting on 400-acre preserve and use of lodge and two five-station sporting clays courses. Trial hunt with guide and dog for two persons costs $125. Pheasants $12, quail $5, chukkars $8.50.

WINGS OF ST. ALBANS, St. Albans. From Ellisville take Missouri Route 100 west to St. Louis County Route T, then 3 1/2 miles west to St. Albans Road, then 1/2 mile to sign. Phone: 458-6523. Individual membership cost $3,000, corporate memberships $5,000. Restaurant, lodge, dogs, guides, 10-station sporting clays course. Pheasants cost $18, quail $10, chukkars $14 and flighted ducks $16.

MALINMOR SPORTING ESTATE, Eolia. From I-70 at Wentzville take U.S. 61 five miles north of Eolia to Pike County Route WW. Turn right and go 1 1/4 miles to gate. Phone: (314) 324-3366. Individual memberships cost $3,000, Corporate memberships $7,000. Lodge, restaurant. Hunting on 2,600 acres for pheasant, Hungarian partridge, quail, chukkars and flighted mallards; Guides, dogs, trap, skeet fields, two five-field sporting clays courses. Minimum hunt $150 per hunter.

BLACKHAWK VALLEY, Old Monroe. From I-70 take Missouri 79 to Old Monroe. Go west four miles on Lincoln County Route C to Route OO. Go right (north) on gravel road one mile to dead end and turn left. Go one-quarter mile to sign. Phone: (314) 665-5459. Annual membership $510, includes guides, dogs, use of lodge, two sporting clays courses and hunting on surrounding 500 acres. Quail $5, chukkars $8.50, flighted mallards $12, pheasants $13. Minimum hunt $60.

SORENSON KENNELS, Wentzville. Four miles south of U.S. 40-61 on St. Charles County Route DD. About 20 miles west of I-270. Phone: (314) 828-5149. No membership fees. Use of a 10-station sporting clays course costs $25 a round. Guide fee of $50 per hunt includes dog handling. Pheasants $12.50, quail $6.50. The typical hunt on this 250-acre ranch is for eight pheasants or 12 quail and lasts three hours.
