Council Hires Consultant to Help in Search, Hiring of City Manager

The Ferguson City Council has hired a consultant to help find a replacement for former City Manager Mike Miller, who resigned effective Nov. 1.

The consultant, Paul Reaume, will charge the city $12,500 for his services, which include advertising the job, screening and interviewing applicants. Reaume told the city that the fee is less than he would normally charge because Ferguson has hired him for two previous employee searches.

Mayor Mike James said that Reaume came highly recommended from the International City-County Managers' Association.

At a council meeting in October, former council member Carl Kersting had questioned the reason behind Miller's resignation. Specifically, he asked if the city manager had resigned or been fired. The mayor declined to comment, saying that the information had been discussed in a closed meeting and was, therefore, not accessible to the public.
