Work on Middle School Up to Date, Board Told

Work on the new Wentzville middle school was on schedule and the building was expected to be enclosed in two or three weeks, Wentzville School District board members were told Tuesday night.

The building, which will house about 400 students in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades, is expected to be open July 1 so that furniture and other equipment can be moved into the school at 561 East Highway N, for next school year. Construction of the 71,000-square-foot building next to the Boone Trail Elementary School was made possible by use of most of the money voters approved last April in a $7.5-million no-tax-increase bond issue.

The board also heard that work on additions and renovations at Wentzville High School was scheduled to start April 4. A construction contract for the $1.3 million project, the other part of the bond-issue, was awarded last month to G.T. Lawlor Co. Eight classrooms will be added to the high school, and the special-education classrooms will be renovated. …
