Youth Hit on I-70 Dies from Injuries

A 17-year-old who was hit by a car while running across Interstate 70 early Tuesday died Wednesday night at St. Joseph Health Center.

The youth, Jason Michael Orr, lived in the 2000 block of Jeffrey Martin Drive in O'Fallon, said his mother, Cynthia Orr of Camdenton, Mo.

"He was an excellent son. He made me laugh a lot," his mother said Thursday amid preparations for his funeral this Saturday.

She said Jason had attended Wentzville High School but had dropped out after the ninth grade. He was working on his general equivalency certificate and was looking for work.

She said his girlfriend, with whom he has a 7-month-old daughter, had been preparing to move in with him.

Cynthia Orr, 37, said she, too, was unemployed and was seeking contributions to defray funeral expenses. "I had to borrow the money to buy the plot today," she said.

A fund will be set up at Boatmen's Bank in St. Charles, she said.

Cynthia Orr said she was unclear of the circumstances surrounding the accident. …
