Two goals by Wendel Clark and outstanding goaltending by Felix Potvin gave Toronto a 4-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night in the seventh game of their Western Conference semifinal series.

The Maple Leafs advance to the National Hockey League's Western Conference final against Vancouver, which eliminated Dallas in five games. The first game of the best-of-seven series is Monday night at Maple Leaf Gardens.

The Leafs, who sputtered for much of the series, put together their finest game to finish San Jose, the only team to make the playoffs with a losing record.

Toronto led 1-0 at the first intermission on Clark's goal at 8:58. Clark took a pass from Mike Eastwood at the San Jose blue line, cruised to the top of the right circle and scored with a wrist shot against goalie Arturs Irbe.

Clark made it 2-0 at 9:30 of the second period, only 18 seconds after the end of a penalty against San Jose during which Toronto had been pressing the attack. …
