Pantry 300 Title Gives Setzer Rookie Double

Article excerpt

Dennis Setzer became the first rookie in NASCAR Busch Grand National history to win two races in the same year when he took The Pantry 300 on Sunday at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway.

Setzer, who lives only a few miles from the .363-mile track and started his career there, came back from an encounter with a lapped car to lead the final three laps, winning a spirited duel with former St. Louisan Kenny Wallace.

Setzer's Chevrolet passed Wallace's Ford and won the race by .32 of a second, or about two car lengths.

Setzer won the first race of his career on the series on July 16 at South Boston, Va.
