Better to Build Children than Repair Men is the theme of a three-day conference for parents from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday at First Baptist Church of O'Fallon, 302 South Service Road, O'Fallon. The Rev. James Blackwood, former pastor of St. Charles Presbyterian Church, Gamble at Sibley streets, St. Charles, will be at the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday. Blackwood was pastor of the church in the late 1940s when the Madison Street Church and the Jefferson Street Church federated. There will be a visit with Blackwood and his wife, Louise Ritter Blackwood, after the service in the church parlor. For information call 946-4467. Silent Auction

Immanuel Lutheran Church, 115 South Sixth Street, will have a silent auction from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday in the school's gym lobby. United Methodist Women's Sunday will be celebrated at the 8:10, 9:30 and 10:50 a.m. services Sunday at First United Methodist Church, 801 First Capitol Drive, St. Charles.
