Peter Phillips: New Royal Heartthrob

Article excerpt

THERE'S A new royal heartthrob.

Peter Phillips, 16, has the kind of dashing rugged glamour that the male side of the Windsor family has sorely lacked of late.

As Sarah Armstrong-Jones and Prince Edward become - or are on the verge of becoming - betrothed, the spotlight is shifting to the next generation of young royals.

Phillips - the eldest son of Anne, the Princess Royal, and her former husband, Mark Phillips, and the queen's first grandchild - is the leader of this pack.

His down-to-earth manner, despite his royal lineage, was instilled in him from birth by the Princess Royal and Mark Phillips.

The couple refused royal title for Peter and his sister, Zara, and went as far as sending the children to the local village school before boarding schools.

This background is said to have contributed to Phillips' level-headedness and lack of pretension about the fact that he is eighth in line to the throne. …
