HILLARY B. SMITH elevated the bicoastal lifestyle to a new plane when she accepted the role of Gene Wilder's wife in "Something Wilder."

And speaking of planes, she spends a lot of time on them.

Smith didn't give up the Emmy-winning role of Nora Gannon on "One Life To Live," an ABC soap opera taped in New York, to join NBC's "Something Wilder," which is done in California.

She took a leave of absence from "OLTL" to make the first six episodes of the new show, "to really focus in," she said. The remaining six episodes of the network's 12-episode order for "Wilder" are being made "in increments of three, with a week in between," she explained.

During the weeks both shows are in production, "I'll commute - Mondays in New York, the rest of the week in LA. All the weeks that we have dark on `Something Wilder' will be spent exclusively on `One Life To Live' in New York. …
