BOATMEN'S BANCSHARES chairman and CEO Andy Craig and his wife, Jake, along with prez Sam Hayes III and his wife, Kathy, are throwing out the welcome mat to our town for Boatmen's Bank's new prez and CEO, John Morton and his wife, Lisa, at an Old Warson C.C. feedbag Nov. 16 (and, of course, our invitation got lost in the mail). . . .

Ron Jacober has been named chief of internal sports operation at KMOX Radio, while he's been assigned the Mondays-Fridays 3-6 p.m. sports reports. He will do no more daily sports open lines. Meanwhile, Barbara Whitesides and Doug McElvein are auditioning as a team for the 4-6 p.m. slot, where McElvein has been soloing. The station is quietly scouting a replacement for Whitesides' 2-4 p.m. period. . .

WORKING THE ROOMS: About $50,000 was raised Saturday night for St. Mary's Health Center's Women's & Infants' Center (for high-risk deliveries and sick babies) at the Crystal Ball. An oral auction preceded the gala at the Adam's Mark. St. Mary's CEO Ron Levy and his wife, Mary, bought use of a condo in Pelican Bay, Fla., for $1,000. The condo was donated by Dr. Donald Dipasco and his wife, Anita. The gala was chaired by Connie Westerman (with an assist by her hub-surgeon Dr. Bob Westerman.) Seen beating time to the Flashbax Band, with Dr. Al Schergan at the baton, were: Susan and Harry Bussmann; Dr. John Hogan and his wife, Rose; Dr. John Milton; Vicki and Ken Ressler; Jim and Dr. Maria Gieszelman; Drs. Barbara and Richard Sterkel; Dr. Ed and Mary Schmidt; Dr. David and Jeanne Kennedy; and Dr. Ken and Mary Ann Zehnder.
