IT MUST BE TUESDAY! Developer and rehabber Larry Deutsch is asking a cool $4 million for these four downtown buildings: the Merchandise Mart Building, 1000 Washington, with 300,000 square feet; The Alverne building, Tenth and Locust streets, with 180,000 square feet; the Miss Hulling's building, 1101 Locust Street, with 50,000 square feet; and the Lauderman Building, 317 North 11th Street, with 90,000 square feet. Based on the package price, the buildings are selling at from $5-6 per square foot. The properties are listed with broker Don Woehle at Nooney Krombach. Asked why Deutsch was anxious to sell, Woehle replied, "It would cost more money to install an elevator in the older buildings than what he paid for them." . . .

The Missouri Athletic Club has waived its 25 percent surcharge for family memberships. In a letter to members, MAC prez Gary K. Wideman wrote that the privileges apply to children through the age of 25 and living at home. . .

The cognoscenti are expected to rally at Christie's in Gotham on Nov. 9 for an offering of oil paintings from the collection of the late Gertrude Bernoudy. Among the works are those by Paul Klee and Ernest Ludwig Kirchner, plus a Matisse scuplture. Then, on Nov. 10, an auction will be held for Bernoudy's intimate works on paper by such legends as Cezanne, Lipchitz and a bronze horse by Marino Marini, nicknamed Gertrude after Bernoudy. Long before she married the late architect William A. Bernoudy, Gertrude had established herself as a connoisseur.

FACES IN PLACES: Handmade quilts, autographed by members of the St. Louis Cardinals, Blues and country music stars will be among the items on the block from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20, in the Grand Hall of the Hyatt Regency/Union Station Hotel. Entertainment will be provided by Ralph Butler and Fairchild. Proceeds will go to Doorways, the interfaith AIDS residency program. …
