Logos School Seeks New Director Longtime Leader Has Role Reduced to Advisory Panel

Dennis O'Brien has returned to Logos School in an advisory role instead of as director of the high school he led for 25 years.

The board of directors placed O'Brien on paid leave Aug. 26 after two former employees accused him of sexual misconduct.

The board had planned to reinstate O'Brien on Monday as director but changed its mind. O'Brien, board members and their attorneys refused to elaborate.

In his new advisory role, O'Brien has nothing to do with day-to-day operations at the private school in Olivette for emotionally troubled teens. He founded it 25 years ago.

He now heads a 10-member panel of business and community leaders who volunteer support for the school, primarily through fund raising. He succeeds Andrew N. Baur, who led the advisory board for three years.

"I look forward to working with Logos and the community in this position," O'Brien said in comments prepared for reporters by attorneys representing him and the school.

Last month, school board members said an internal investigation had convinced them that allegations of sexual misconduct brought by two former women employees lacked support. …
