MEET THE STAR: Four-year-old Lauren Lashley is about to start her college fund. As you have your second cup of coffee, she's on her way to Chicago to appear in a national commercial for Breyers Ice Cream - for which she'll earn between $30,000 and $60,000 (depending on the number of markets in which the spot is aired). It took a nationwide search to find just the right kids for the commercial - chatterboxes who carry on like fortysomething types even though they're only 4-year-olds. In St. Louis alone, 200 tried out for the chance to be one of the lucky ones. Lauren is repped by The Delcia Agency. Her parents are St. John's Mercy Medical Center nurse Kaye Lashley and Moog Automotive's Roger Lashley. Does Lauren eat Breyers in real life? Sorry. She's allergic to milk.

Dearie, do you remember? Try singer Bea Wain, who warbled her way to fame on the old Saturday night radio show, "Your Hit Parade." Wain's alive and living in California, when she's not aboard a cruise. S'matter of fact, Wain just did a stint aboard the S.S. Norway Jazz Cruise, along with attorney Don Wolff, host of KMOX's Saturday night jazz show. Also on hand were songwriters Johnny Mandel and Jay Livingston. Wolff hosted 485 clients of a travel agency. Mandel sang for the first time in public by warbling his own "The Shadow of Your Smile." Townies aboard the ship included Judge William Hungate and his wife, Dorothy; Dr. Alan Londe and Sandra Tucker; Harold and Elsie Antoine, and the Joseph Nouhans. …
