COLUMBIA Missouri U. Board Of Curators Elects New President

Adam B. Fischer is the newly elected president of the University of Missouri Board of Curators. Fischer, a business executive and lawyer from Sedalia, was elected to a one-year term at the board's meeting Friday in Columbia.

He succeeds James L. McHugh, a lawyer who lives in Webster Groves.

Fischer, 52, earned his bachelor's and law degrees from St. Louis University and taught law enforcement at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. He also taught criminal law for the Missouri Highway Patrol before setting up a law practice. He specializes in corporate law, trusts and estates.

Fred L. Hall Jr., a lawyer from Springfield, succeeds Fischer as vice president. Hall earned a bachelor's, MBA and law degrees from the University of Missouri at Columbia. GAS PRICES State Motorists Paying More At Pump During Holiday

Missouri motorists should find slightly higher gasoline prices this holiday season, compared with last year, the Auto Club of Missouri said Friday.

The average price for self-service regular unleaded gas is 97 cents a gallon, compared with 91 cents this time last year, according to the Auto Club's annual survey. The national average is $1.15 a gallon, up 5.8 cents from last year.

According to the survey, prices are slightly higher in St. Louis - 95 cents a gallon - than in Kansas City - 91 cents. Last year, gas prices averaged about 84 cents in both cities. AP ST. LOUIS Open House Planned For Children's Advocacy Center
