Juco Star Thinks Mizzou, but Hasn't Canceled Trips

Henry Thomas, a virtual consensus junior college All-America football player, has no doubts about his intention to attend the University of Missouri - at least for now.

At a Sunday brunch, Thomas told Missouri coach Larry Smith of his intention to attend MU. Sunday afternoon, Andy Hill, his coach at Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, scoffed when told of Thomas' commitment. But after talking with Thomas, Hill on Monday said he was satisfied that Thomas meant it and that he was pleased he had decided on MU.

"I just wanted to be doubly sure . . . . You know, I'm an old Tiger and that's a great plus for them," said Hill, who played for MU in the early '80s. "And I told him last night: This is the best recruiting class Missouri's had in at least 12 years."

Hill, however, said Thomas to his knowledge had not yet canceled visits to Nebraska, Alabama and Tennessee. He also noted that there is plenty of time for developments between now and Feb. 1, the first day that national letters of intent can be signed. …
