Stewart, Williams Do `Two-Step'

They made nice before the game, sitting and gabbing on the Missouri bench. They gushed about each other's teams after. In between, though, there was a lapse in decorum between Missouri basketball coach Norm Stewart and Kansas coach Roy Williams.

In the waning moments of the game, Stewart and Williams jousted back and forth at each other even as play continued on the other side of the court.

The topic?

"The usual coaching fraternity association," Stewart said. "Fraternizing. Bonding."

Stewart then joked that Williams was trying to teach him a dance step or two but couldn't because each was confined to his respective coaching box.

More seriously, he added, "I imagine if you wrote something you could probably get something going that Roy and I are bitter enemies - but it wouldn't be true."

Trading Places: Stewart got his first glimpse at Kansas guard Jerod Haase, who scored 18 points. Haase, a sophomore, transferred to KU from California.

"I've got to find out who's playing real well at some other school," Stewart said. …
