The prohibitive Super Bowl favorites, the mighty San Francisco 49ers, arrived here early Sunday evening.

According to coach George Seifert, they're raring to go.

"Everybody's got an awful lot of energy," Seifert said. "I think if you were at our meal just a few minutes ago, you'd sense the energy of our club."

How so?

"They have games in there," Seifert said. "I don't even know what they're called. I'm dating myself."

Video games, Coach.

"That kind of overwhelmed everybody," Seifert said. "You're trying to sit there and eat your hamburger and your chicken, and you've got bells ringing and so forth in the background. It was tough to digest."

Perhaps the 'Niners were eating at Chuck E Cheese. After all, Sunday was Seifert's 55th birthday.

The San Diego Chargers don't arrive in Miami until tonight.


Miami Vice: Was that Don Johnson or Seifert taking questions Sunday night at the Miami Airport Hilton?

"There's certainly something exciting about Miami, and there's a great deal of sex appeal," Seifert said, wearing a Miami Vice-like white sports jacket. "It's something we can all fantasize about - the environment here and so forth. And yet there's certain parts of the environment you want to stay clear of."
