Illinois State shook off a 12-point second-half deficit to rally and defeat Southern Illinois 94-91 Saturday afternoon in Carbondale in the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Redbirds, who trailed 72-60 with 9:23 remaining, went on a 15-4 run during the next three minutes to cut the lead to a point.

Two free throws by Kenny Wright gave the Redbirds (10-9, 5-3) and 87-85 lead with 1:58 to play and held it until the end.

Maurice Trotter led the Redbirds with 22 points.

SIU (12-6, 5-3 MVC) was led by Chris Carr with 25.

Southwest Missouri 65, Northern Iowa 62: In Springfield, Johnny Murdock dropped in a layup with 2:05 left and Southwest Missouri State held off Northern Iowa.

The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for Southwest Missouri (10-5, 3-5 MVC). The Bears had lost five of their last six.

Murdock led the Bears with 17 points and seven rebounds.

Jason Daisy scored 19 to lead UNI (5-14, 1-8).

Drake 83, Indiana St. 77: Indiana State couldn't overcome poor first-half shooting and lost to visiting Drake as Lynnrick Rogers scored 27 points. …
