JUST ABOUT everybody knows how to bake potatoes in the microwave oven.

Here's an easy way to take baked potatoes a step further. After baking the potatoes, hollow out the shell. Mix the pulp with cheese and seasonings, then restuff and reheat in your microwave oven. It's almost as easy as plain baked potatoes, but a lot more delicious.

Even better - you can stuff these potatoes ahead of time and reheat them as needed. CHEESY STUFFED POTATOES

4 medium baking potatoes (6 to 8 ounces each)

1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese with chives

1/4 teaspoon onion salt

1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Dash garlic powder

2 to 4 tablespoons milk

1/4 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (1 ounce)

Scrub potatoes. Prick several times with a fork. Arrange potatoes on a microwave-safe plate. Cook, uncovered, on High (100 percent) power 14 to 17 minutes or until tender, rearranging once. Let stand 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, place cream cheese in a 1-quart microwave-safe casserole. …
