SUNSET HILLS Annexation Of New Land To Take Place In November

An area of 259 acres southeast of Sunset Hills will become part of that municipality on Nov. 9.

Voters approved the annexation last November. On Tuesday, St. Louis County Circuit Judge Robert Lee Campbell set the date the area will join Sunset Hills.

The area generally is bounded by the Sunset Hills city limits, Sappington and Gravois roads and Lindbergh Boulevard. The area has 390 houses and slightly fewer than 800 residents.

WEBSTER GROVES SCHOOLS Board Approves Fee Hike For '95-96 Adventure Club

The Webster Groves School Board has approved a 5 percent increase in fees for the Adventure Club for next school year.

The Adventure Club is a before- and after-school child-care program offered between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

"We have not raised the fees for three years," said Marilee Martin, director of community relations. "Next year's projected revenue is not expected to cover the costs of this program, which include transportation, food, utilities and supplies."

FAUST PARK Advice On Carousel Sought From English Millwright

The St. Louis Carousel at Faust Park has been out of commission since mid-January and awaits $3,000 in maintenance repairs.

Dave Norvell, maintenance supervisor, said that the metal shaft that had turned the carousel had worked lose from the base and required a new metal piece to be cut and fabricated.

County officials sought advice from Derek Ogden, a millwright from England who specializes in windmills and lives in Madison, Va. The carousel operates much like an upside-down windmill, Norvell says. Officials expect the carousel to be back in operation by the end of the month.

SHREWSBURY Blue Cross Alliance Plan Picked For City Workers

Shrewsbury officials have approved a medical insurance plan for city workers to save $65,484 in annual premiums.

Officials selected the Blue Cross Alliance plan over 13 other bids. Shrewsbury's current contract also is with Blue Cross but under a different plan, which has expired. …
