MISSOURI ST. LOUIS COUNTY Election Board Makes April 4 Results Official

The St. Louis County Election Board has certified the results of the April 4 elections, clearing the way for winners to take their seats as mayors or members of boards that run municipalities, schools and fire districts.

Six staff members spent a week tallying ballots and records from 503 polling places to make sure results were accurate, said Leslye Winslow, Democratic director of elections.

Under state election law, winners cannot take office unless they are certified.

Those required to file campaign finance reports also must file the ones due after the election.

Certification of winners became an issue in the Special School District when William Franzen took his School Board seat before the Election Board issued official results.

***** ST. LOUIS Friday Is Opening Day For Easter Lily Show

The annual Easter Lily Show will open at 11 a.m. Friday at the Jewel Box in Forest Park.

The display will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until the Mother's Day Show opens in early May.

Admission is 50 cents but is free on opening day and on Monday and Tuesday mornings.

***** ST. LOUIS COUNTY Homeowners Are Facing Reassessment Deadline

Friday is the last day St. Louis County homeowners can request informal conferences to dispute the value assigned to their property under the latest round of reassessment.

Call 727-6266 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. today or Friday to schedule an appointment.

The conferences are at 65 Village Square Shopping Center, near North Lindbergh Boulevard and Interstate 270 in Hazelwood.

The last ones will be next Thursday or April 21, Assessor Kenneth Morton said.

So far, more than 5,400 people have asked for conferences. That's below the 8,147 scheduled after the last reassessment in 1993.

Homeowners dissatisfied after the informal conference can file a formal appeal with the county Board of Equalization between May 1 and June 19. …
