A-B Helps Red Cross Campaign Get off the Ground

Article excerpt

Anheuser-Busch Cos. presented a $1 million check to the American Red Cross to help the relief organization with its first-ever paid advertising campaign. The check was presented last week to Elizabeth Dole, president of the Red Cross.

"When the Red Cross needs help," Dole said, "we know we can always count on Anheuser-Busch.

"We're extremely grateful for the company's tremendous support."

The advertising campaign is part of a national fund-raising effort.

The Red Cross launched the effort after experiencing a cut in corporate donations at the same time that an unusual number of natural disasters occurred, including Hurricane Andrew, the Midwest flooding and the Los Angeles earthquake.

The Anheuser-Busch donation enabled the Red Cross to purchase advertising time on national television and to buy print advertising in national publications.

The theme of the campaign is "Help Can't Wait."
