Library Openings to Offer More Space, Information

Article excerpt

The opening of libraries in Wentzville and O'Fallon will provide residents in western St. Charles County with more space, materials and computer access.

Corporate Plaza in Wentzville will reopen June 26 with nearly twice as much space.

O'Fallon Plaza will close the same date. But by July 10, Middendorf-Kredell, a new branch on Highway K in O'Fallon, will open to offer patrons 20,000 square feet. And in mid-August, a second branch in the O'Fallon area, Deer Run, will open for residents in the northwestern part of the county.

On Monday, trustees approved $17,131 in change orders for the project. The change orders were for such things as additional steel and drywall, termite treatment, additional grading and removal of old carpeting. The expansion project cost about $219,000.

"Some of the things we should have caught in the specs, and some of the things were structural," Preiss said. …
