Big Hit Latest from Disney's Studio Pleases Its Target Audience

Disney has done it again. Its new film, "Pocahontas," opened Thursday night at the Fox Theatre to rave reviews from young people.

Their favorite character was Meeko the raccoon. The mainly 10-and-younger audience sat entranced by a live dance show followed by the movie, which ran 80 minutes.

The movie will stay at the Fox only through June 22.

Although the affair started 20 minutes late, the audience was appeased once Mickey Mouse stepped on the stage with sparklers on his gloves. The 20-minute dancing show included songs from the classic "Snow White" and the contemporary "Beauty and the Beast."

Mayor Freeman Bosley Jr. was in the crowd. "I watched Disney movies when I grew up, just like your moms and dads did." He asked if the crowd was ready - and they yelled and cheered and waited through several more introductions before the night's entertainment began.

The movie, which centers around an American Indian, Pocahontas, and John Smith, who came from England to seek his fortune. …
