Prayer services for peace over the next month include:

Sunday and July 23, 30 or Aug. 6 at many United Methodist Churches' regular worship services: Many congregations will read the condemnation of nuclear war from their Book of Disciplines in Social Principles. The reading is required during the course of each year.

July 23 at 7 p.m. "Struggle for Survival" concert given by the nine singers in the group "One Voice" at St. Clement Catholic Church, 1510 Bopp Road, Des Peres.

Aug. 4 and 5 Conservative and Orthodox Jewish congregations will incorporate prayers for world peace into their holiday Tisha V'az, which marks both ancient destructions of the Temple at Jerusalem.

Aug. 6:

8:15 a.m. An interfaith group led by area Quakers, Ethical Society members, Roman Catholics and Presbyterians are organizing bell-tolling. (The bomb exploded over Hiroshima at 8:15 a.m. Japanese time.)

The Society of the Sacred Heart and the School Sisters of Notre Dame will hold communitywide prayer services in convents here, as their Japanese convents simultaneously hold prayer services. …
