Quarter Sale

A 25-cent sale will be held from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Salvation Army, 24 Faye Avenue, St. Charles. Clothes and miscellaneous items will be available. Some items will be slightly higher than a quarter. For information, call 946-7988.

Country Picnic

An old-fashioned picnic is planned for 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at St. John's United Church of Christ, 60 Johannes Lane, Cappeln (Take Highway D, 2 1/2 miles west of New Melle). The menu will be fried chicken and roast beef. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 12 and free for those younger than 6. A country store will offer fancy work, crafts, baked goods and produce. An assortment of plants, hanging baskets and potted items will be on sale at a garden shoppe. Prizes will be given to children for games. Kathy Gardener & her rhythm keyboard provides entertainment in the late afternoon. A quilt will be awarded. For information, call 828-5221. Home Fire Ministries will present music and family-life dramas at the 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. services Sunday at First Assembly of God, 2521 Charwood, St. Charles. The group consists of a mother and father, three daughters and three sons-in-law and seven grandchildren.
