Goal in Last Two Minutes Enables Notre Dame to Tie Billikens 1-1

Notre Dame soccer coach Mike Berticelli says he didn't have to cross the Atlantic Ocean to sign midfielder Constantin Koloskov of Moscow.

"He was attending high school in Mississippi," Berticelli said. "We didn't go to Russia to get him."

The Fightin' Russian made like an Irishman Saturday night, scoring with 72 seconds remaining to lift Notre Dame to a 1-1 preseason tie with St. Louis University at St. Louis Soccer Park.

Koloskov's late goal put a damper on an otherwise good night for the Billikens, who tied preseason No. 1 Virginia 1-1 on Thursday night at Soccer Park.

A crowd of 4,107 turned out Saturday night, giving the Bills a two-game preseason attendance of more than 8,400.

SLU led for more than 20 minutes after Shannon McPartland scored on a through pass from Mark Filla in the 67th minute. That same combination produced the Bills' goal against Virginia.

The Bills again played without All-American Matt McKeon, who is in Japan for the World University Games. …
