The following incidents were among those that were reported to police departments in the St. Louis metropolitan area or that involved action in one of the area's courts: ARRESTS

Manchester: Joseph M. Wathen, 21, of the 1000 block of Savoy Lane in Manchester, was being held Thursday in the St. Louis County Jail after being charged with four counts of first-degree robbery and one count of attempted robbery in a string of thefts recently in West County. Manchester police arrested Wathen Tuesday after an officer noticed a ski mask in his car. The mask and Wathen fit the descriptions from the robbery Monday of a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant at Weidman and Manchester roads. Wathen was charged with two robbery counts. He is being held on $150,000 bail. Police said Wathen also confessed to these robberies or attempted robberies: Aug. 22 at a Schnucks store at 12756 Olive Boulevard; Aug. 22 at a 7-Eleven store at 13491 Olive; and Sept. 3 at a Citgo station in Valley Park.

St. Louis: Collette Williams, 31, was arrested and charged Thursday with second-degree murder and other crimes in the fatal shooting of Edward Griffin, 16, of the 3100 block of Brantner Place. At least two people shot Griffin outside Williams' home in the 2800 block of Gamble Street on Aug. 8.

St. Louis: Police and FBI agents on Wednesday arrested Jerry Cooley, 42, who was wanted in the robbery of the Boatmen's National Bank of St. Louis, 4301 Hampton Avenue, on Monday. Cooley, a convicted burglar, was arrested in the 1400 block of Clara Avenue.

University City: Armstead D. Finney Jr. and Michael Hope, both 18 of University City, were charged Thursday with five counts of felony stealing in the taking of stereo equipment and car phones out of cars between Aug. 19 and Aug. 25. The thefts occurred just north of the University City Loop, on Cates, Westgate, Enright and Leland avenues. ASSAULTS

St. Louis: Three men abducted a woman, 21, as she got off a bus in the 1900 block of Compton Avenue at 1 a.m. Thursday. They took her to Reservoir Park, where they raped and sodomized her. She was treated at a hospital. COURT ACTIONS

Alton: Eric N. Johnson, 25, of Alton, was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis to 20 years in prison on a federal cocaine trafficking charge. Johnson had pleaded guilty to the charge in April. Johnson was charged with possessing 359 grams of crack cocaine with intent to sell it. He was arrested in February.

Bonne Terre: Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 20 for a former Bonne Terre, Mo., water clerk. Anna Jean Blackwell, 59, pleaded no contest on Sept. 9 to a charge of stealing over $150 by deceit, a felony. She was to have gone on trial this week in the St. Francois County Courthouse in Farmington on the charge that she stole money from water-bill payments made by Bonne Terre residents. …
