MISSOURI ST. LOUIS COUNTY COURTS Judge Susan Block Picked To Fill Vacancy

Associate Circuit Judge Susan E. Block has been elevated by Gov. Mel Carnahan to a circuit judgeship in St. Louis County to fill the vacancy created by the death of Judge Richard F. Provaznik.

Carnahan selected Block from a panel of three women finalists. The other contenders were: Linda Murphy, a lawyer in Clayton; and Associate Circuit Judge Carolyn Whittington.

Block, 50, was elected a magistrate in 1979 and became an associate circuit judge that year under a court reorganization.1

She is a graduate of George Washington University and got her law degree from St. Louis University. BRENTWOOD Homeowners Can Learn Details Of Buyout

The Brentwood Preservation Association will hold a meeting for residents of Evans Place Neighborhood at 7 o'clock tonight at 8604 Darling Street.

Organizer Renee Holmes Jackson said the meeting was intended to inform residents of their rights in a buyout offered by The Westin Group, a commercial real estate broker that is trying to buy out Evans Place. The area includes 105 houses on about 30 acres, south of where Interstate 170 dead-ends at Eager Road. ST. LOUIS

Bond Backs `Brownfield' Redevelopment U.S. Sen. Christopher S. Bond on Wednesday praised St. Louis for attracting a tool company to a blighted and contaminated 26-acre section of the city slated for redevelopment.

Bond, standing in front of an old barrel at Martin Luther King Drive and Jefferson Avenue, noted that Medco Tool of Philadelphia plans to build a 25,000-square-foot distribution center in the redeveloped area, to be called the Martin Luther King Business Park.
