Those Calvin Klein ads got you all upset? Did you think they were crass, manipulative and cynical? That's standard fare for advertisers these days.

So say the folks at Adbusters, a Canadian mag with a self-explanatory name. Its staff describes its mandate thusly: "To criticize individual ads and ad campaigns, but also to expose, and in many ways oppose, the current values of our consumer culture."

Former St. Louisan Leslie Savan weighs in with a witty examination of ad buzzwords, but the real eyecatcher is the spoof ad contest for readers. I won't spoil it for you, but just imagine Jeffrey Dahmer with a milk mustache. You won't see any Marlboro ads in this one, baby.
