LOANS: Regional Housing Alliance's Susan C.J. Rollins and Tom Hayes of the May Co. are getting high marks for their efforts to coordinate philanthropic investment by corporations back into local communities. The pair's latest accomplishments include $300,000 in predevelopment loans for affordable housing in University City, Maplewood and the North Webster section of Webster Groves. AD LIBITEMS: Tony Marino, longtime GM of Mike Shannon's Steaks & Seafood, and sportsgabber Mike Shannon are negotiating to buy the downtown oasis from its owner, the Pasta House Co. Said Marino, "It's going to work." The Pasta House's John Ferrara said that his firm will remain as a consultant. Meanwhile, the Pasta House in Florissant has been sold to Steve Keathley and the Pasta House firm is already setting its sights on a spot near the Northwest Plaza cinemas. . . ..

"They always honor people with large families and then they are assured of selling a lot of tickets," joshed Jack Buck over his upcoming induction (Oct. 29) into the Radio Hall of Fame at The Museum of Broadcast Communications in the Chicago Cultural Center. Buck said he'll retire from the mike "when my pacemaker fails." Buck's first chore in broadcasting play-by-play action was in 1949 on WCOL in Columbus, Ohio. ONWARD: Darryl Hindman, owner of Century 21 Hindman and veep of the St. Louis Association of Realtors, and sidekick Peter Shaw, prez of Capital Title Co., are just in from the swamps of Creole, La., where they were part of a team that bagged 50 alligators for Louisiana's Department of Fish and Wildlife. Each brought home an eight-footer for mounting. . . .
