When a university, a college and a middle school need more parking, and people who live near Wydown Boulevard in Clayton want less parking in their neighborhood, there is a solution, says Alderman Mark Kruger of Clayton's 1st Ward.

Get everyone to sit down together and work things out.

Kruger plans to do just that next month, forming a committee with representatives from Washington University, Fontbonne College, Wydown Middle School and the neighbors.

In the past year, competition has grown for parking spaces along Wydown just east of Big Bend Boulevard.

The problem worsened during construction of Wydown's gym and new classrooms. Cars began parking on University Lane and Dartford Avenue, to the chagrin of some neighbors.

People who work and visit Wydown Middle School have been finding extra parking on two tennis courts west of the school. The courts hold about 100 cars.

School officials are trying to decide whether to open one or both tennis courts. …
