Knight Dismisses Player After Arrest Indiana guard Sherron Wilkerson was arrested early Friday on a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery, and coach Bob Knight kicked him off the team.

Wilkerson, 20, told Indianapolis television station WRTV that he argued with his girlfriend before being arrested by Bloomington police about 3:40 a.m. He said neighbors had called police and that there was no violence involved.

The 6-foot-4 Wilkerson was averaging 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game.

Indiana spokesman Gregg Elkin released a statement from Knight late Friday:

"On the basis of the facts presented to us, I have dismissed Sherron Wilkerson from the IU basketball team. I have also begun the steps to revoke his scholarship."

The name of the woman in the case was unavailable. FOOTBALL Modell Denies He Would Sell Browns
