The following incidents were among those that were reported to police departments in the St. Louis metropolitan area or that involved action in one of the area's courts: ACCIDENTS

Clinton County: The pilot of a single-engine plane who was killed in a crash near Carlyle, Ill., on Monday had told air traffic controllers that he was having instrument problems on the plane shortly before the crash, the Federal Aviation Administration said Tuesday.

The pilot was identified as Charles A. Eagle, 60, of Johnston, Iowa. Clinton County Coroner David Moss said Eagle was killed on impact shortly after 4 p.m. Monday. FAA investigators were studying the crash site Tuesday.

St. Charles County: Antonio Ray, 20, of Alton was struck and killed early Tuesday as he lay on U.S. Highway 67, a mile south of the Clark Bridge in St. Charles County. Ray was struck about 1:55 a.m. He was hit by a car driven by John Bellitto, 22, also of Alton. Ray was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities do not know why Ray was lying on the highway. The investigation is continuing.

Wright City: Gregory Page, 34, of Wright City, was killed as he walked west in the eastbound lane of the Interstate 70 North Service Road about 7:10 p.m. Monday. Page was hit by a pickup driven by Bryan Martin, 23, also of Wright City, who was driving east. The incident remains under investigation. ASSAULTS

St. Louis: A 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted shortly after 10 p.m. Monday as she was waiting for a bus in the 3300 block of Meramec Street. The victim said a man in his late 20s or early 30s began talking to her at the bus stop, then suddenly grabbed and slapped her, dragged her into an alley and raped her. The victim was treated for rape at a hospital and released. Police said they were working on a strong lead Tuesday evening. BANK ROBBERIES

St. Louis: Two men wearing sunglasses and ski masks, and armed with automatic pistols took an undisclosed amount of cash in a robbery Tuesday afternoon at the Roosevelt Bank, 4435 Chippewa Street. …
