Loyal Order: Youngsters to Get Safety Town Again

The Loyal Order of the Squirrels, a St. Peters civic organization, once again is sponsoring Safety Town for children about to enter kindergarten.

Registration is set for March 23 from 9 a.m. to noon and April 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Peters Elementary School, 400 McMenamy Road.

The 10-day program will run from June 11 through graduation June 22. Parents can sign up their 4- and 5-year-olds for sessions scheduled for 9-11 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2-4 p.m.

The program will be conducted at Safety Town behind the St. Peters school. Cindi DeLaney, school counselor, and Julie Marstall, first-grade teacher, will work with the children. The cost for each child is $25.

DeLaney said parents should decide whether their 4-year-olds can sit through an hour's worth of instructions.

Jerry Hollingsworth, a St. Peters alderman and a member of the Squirrels, said Safety Town primarily teaches bicycle and pedestrian safety. He said the program is open to any family in St. …
