Council Set to OK Development of Bank, Restaurant, Post Office

Construction of a three-story bank in Kirkwood could begin in March.

The Kirkwood City Council is expected to approve by Feb. 15 a redevelopment agreement with Kirkwood Crossing to develop seven acres in the 300 block of South Kirkwood Road. The site was once the regional office of the Missouri Department of Highways and Transportation.

The development, called Pioneer Place, calls for a three-story 31,000-square-foot bank and office building, a two-story 41,000-square-foot building with offices and stores, a 7,000-square-foot post office and a Taco Bell restaurant, said Jonathan Browne, president of Novus Development Company and Kirkwood Crossing L.L.C.

Browne said his company had the property under contract and expected to close on it on Feb. 26. Work on the bank building could begin March 1, he said.

In addition to Kirkwood Road, the redevelopment area is bounded by Monroe Avenue on the north, Clay Avenue on the west and West Clinton Place on the south. …
