Darsha L. Scott of Edwardsville got out of prison Thursday, but now he's being sought by two pregnant wives and police with a warrant charging him with bigamy.

Scott, 27, completed a six-year sentence for residential burglary Thursday and was released, one day after he was charged with bigamy in Madison County.

The charge just happened to be filed on Valentine's Day, said Assistant State's Attorney Susan Jensen. She said both of the women claimed to be Scott's wives and were due to deliver babies about the same time. Scott was on parole until last month, when he was returned to prison.

Sgt. James Jones of Glen Carbon said police would be looking for Scott to arrest him on the new charge. Jones said the investigation began after Scott's first wife, whom he married in Champaign in December 1994 and now lives in Glen Carbon, called police to report that her husband had married again.

Jones said the woman checked out reports that Scott had married one of her former co-workers, and found records in Madison County showing that he, indeed, had been married again last July. …
