R. Wallace, Schrader Among Top 10 Truckers

Jimmy Hensley overshadowed Rusty Wallace and four other NASCAR Winston Cup drivers to win the pole for Sunday's $286,925 SuperFinish 200 truck race at Nazareth (Pa.) Speedway.

Driving a Dodge Ram, Hensley toured the one-mile course at 128.027 mph on Saturday.

Wallace, a former St. Louisan who won last weekend's Miller 400 at Brooklyn, Mich., qualified seventh in a Ford. Ken Schrader, another Winston Cup driver with St. Louis ties, qualified ninth.

Vasser Stays On Pole

Jimmy Vasser failed to improve on the lap of 146.194 mph that put him on the provisional pole for Sunday's Grand Prix of Cleveland. But nobody else on Saturday could match or beat that speed.

Alex Zanardi, last week's winner at Portland and Vasser's Target-Chip Ganassi Racing teammate, remained in second place, improving from 145.053 to 146.159 on the 2.369-mile, 10-turn temporary road circuit at Burke Lakefront Airport.

The pair, in Reynard-Hondas, gave the Ganassi team its fifth pole of the season.

Tommy Kendall raced from fifth place to victory in the ATCALL Trans-Am Classic at Cleveland's Burke Lakefront Airport. He averaged 113.4 mph and earned his second victory of the season and 13th of his SCCA career.

Series point leader Dorsey Schroeder, a former Ballwin resident now living in Osage Beach, Mo., survived a second-lap spin and came back from 13th to capture third in a Cobra. Schroeder leads Kendall 213-205 in the driver standings.

Michael Schumacher bolstered his bid for a third consecutive French Grand Prix by winning the pole in Magny Cours. Ferrari's Schumacher averaged 125.136 mph on the 2.657-mile circuit.

David Green led qualifying for the Lysol 200 at Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.

Driving a Chevrolet, Green shattered the 2.45-mile course qualifying record with a lap of 115. …
