Women's softball will make its Olympic debut in Atlanta on July 21, and the U.S. team is the absolute favorite to win. The Americans have a Harlem Globetrotter-esque 110-1 record in international competition since 1986.

"Is there any added pressure to being the favorite? . . . No one can apply more pressure to this team than what we do to ourselves," pitcher Lisa Fernandez said.

Through Wednesday on its current 21-city exhibition caravan, which comes through St. Louis on Sunday, the team was 33-1. That includes a streak of 28 successive shutout victories - and way too many dusty miles.

"After five days on a bus, everything starts to run together," infielder Leah O'Brien said. "We've got the little inside jokes now. We've even started making up silly songs: `We are the All-American team. We never get to sleep.' "
