Crack Open A Book

The St. Louis Public Library is having its annual book sale 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Compton Film Library, 1624 Locust. More than 30,000 books are available with hardbacks at 50 cents a pop to magazines for 10 cents. Friday is preview night and the admission fee is $5, free to Library Friends Members. There's no admission charge Saturday or Sunday. All proceeds will help purchase more books and other materials for the library system. For more info, call 539-0343.

Powwow Washington University wraps up American Indian Awareness Week with a powwow 1-10 p.m. Saturday at the Washington University Field House, located in the Athletic Complex near the intersection of Big Bend and Forsyth Blvds. This sixth annual powwow includes American Indian dancers, trading booths, music and food. Special ceremonies include gourd dancing, blanket dancing, inter-tribal dance contests and memorial songs. For more information, call 935-4510. Rodeo Car Style The Greater St. Louis Automotive Association is having its second annual Safe Driving Rodeo noon-3 p.m. Sunday at St. Louis University. Shutterbug Show The deadline for entries in the 11th annual Olivette Photo Show is 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. April 18, at the Olivette Community Center, Grandview and Warson. The competition is open to everyone in the St. Louis area. The April 20 show will consist of adult and student divisions. Each division will be subdivided into black and white, color and experimental categories. Photos must be at least 8 by 10 inches and no larger than 11 by 14 inches. …
