Dear Heloise: When cleaning between fridge and cabinet (or any small narrow area), wrap paper toweling around a yardstick (it's good - it's flat), anchoring with tape or rubber band, then saturate toweling with ammonia or soapy water and insert the covered stick into narrow area.

Dear Heloise: When I bake a layer cake, I freeze the entire cake (after frosting).

When frozen, I cut the cake into serving pieces and wrap each piece in plastic wrap. Since the cake is frozen, it cuts very cleanly and neatly. All the pieces then go back into the freezer. Because there are only two of us, the pieces are available whenever we want a piece of cake. You don't have to eat cake until you are sick of it nor do you throw out stale wasted cake.
