Lights Up: County Panel Oks Permit Lindbergh High School Plans to Install Four 80-Foot Poles

Lindbergh High School probably will have lights for an athletic stadium under construction.

The St. Louis County Planning Commission voted 5-0 with one abstention to recommend a permit for four 80-foot-tall light poles.

The St. Louis County Council is expected to take a final vote on the matter sometime in June.

Each light standard will have 12 floodlights directed toward the athletic field.

The county Planning Department recommended that it be allowed to review the site plan for the light poles as a precaution against too much light spilling into nearby residential neighborhoods.

The school is building a new football stadium, athletic fields and parking lot on 67 acres directly behind the school.

Two restrictions on the permit require that a lighting study be approved by the planning department before a building permit is issued and that the lights be restricted so that no game or activity starts after 7:30 p.m.

In other business before the planning commission, a final vote on rezoning 10 1/2 acres on Lemay Ferry Road northeast of Hickory House Lane was postponed for two weeks because no one on the commission made a motion to approve the rezoning. …
