Protecting Credit From On-line Fraud

Before you cybershop til you drop, you need to know a few basics about credit security on the Internet, says American Express. The credit card company, along with the Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Information Center, has put together a pamphlet of advice.

A sample of its advice: use a browser that can scramble or encrypt information; be wary of firms that ask for personal information, such as your Social Security number, to complete a transaction.
