For every craps player, there is a system. Players who play the don'ts, the hardways, the inside, the horn. One of the first systems I ever found was the "twins." A player waits until a point is established, then plays a place bet on the exact opposite point. On a four, he would take 10. A five would be nine; a six, eight and so on.

Now, there is absolutely no scientific basis to this system. It still gives the advantage to the house (from 1.5 percent on the six or eight, to 6 percent on the four or 10). But the nice thing about this system is that it keeps the player in the game at a slower pace and avoids the monotony of merely sitting on the pass line. …
