The session: 9 a.m. Tuesday at Casino St. Charles.

I played Let It Ride for the same reason that everyone else does: I needed a big return against a relatively low wager. My attempts to grind out extra money at craps and blackjack weren't working, so I bought in for $25 at Let It Ride. That was enough for me to play up to three losing hands in a row (each hand requires a maximum of $15 to play, and each losing hand costs a minimum of $5.)

I didn't have a thing and lost the first two hands. I had three $5 chips down for what I thought would be my final hand. But I drew a pair of 10s on that hand and let it ride to win $15. …
